KEEPING THE FAITH - In The News
COUNTDOWN To November 4th
by Gary L. Bauer

The Terrorist and The
PlumberJoe the plumber is in trouble. He has
committed an unspeakable act – he spoke up for capitalism and free
enterprise. He publicly spoke taboo words: “I don’t want to be taxed more
just because I work harder.” But it gets even worse. His words have put the
Messiah from Illinois, Barack Obama, on the defensive. There is only one
solution: Joe must be destroyed. (With the media fixated on Joe, maybe Sarah
Palin will get a break!)
The same media that have done nothing to investigate Weather Underground
terrorist William Ayers, the same media that have ignored the relationship
between Ayers and Obama, the same big shot reporters who have turned
Michelle Obama into a mystery woman whose views are “off limits,” and the
same media that left no stone unturned in Alaska trying to embarrass Sarah
Palin – that media are now in a feeding frenzy to destroy Blue Collar Joe.
And the Obama/Biden campaign is piling on, too.
In the last 24-hours the inquiring minds of the press have discovered that
Joe once had a tax lien against him for $1,200. Several press outlets
charged that he wasn’t even registered to vote. Then they dropped that
attack and replaced it with an even more damaging charge: He is registered,
but – GASP! – “He’s a Republican!”
Diane Sawyer wanted to know whether the McCain campaign had talked to Joe
before he confronted Obama The Savior. (No, it had not.) Then this news
broke last night – he isn’t really a plumber because he didn’t finish the
Ohio licensing requirements. Before the day is over, we will know whether he
ever said a cross word, had too much to drink or passed gas.
The goal is clear: Destroy Joe before Americans wake up to the fact that
they are close to electing the most far left, pro-abortion, anti-military,
socialism-advocating candidate in the history of the United States.
Pray for Joe, his family and his friends. Unless he recants and pledges
allegiance to Obama in the next few days, Joe is toast.
The Coming “Thugocracy”
Sadly, this is not an isolated incident. The Left’s visceral reaction to
Sarah Palin has been unbelievable, and I have been reporting on the growing
totalitarian impulse of the Left for some time now. The “tyrants of
tolerance” have come totally unhinged during the course of this election,
and should they actually attain real power, it is just a taste of things yet
to come. Consider the example of Jessica Hughes of Lufkin, Texas.
Recently, Jessica answered a phone call from an Obama phone bank operation.
Here is her account of what happened:
“She [the Obama worker] asked if I was an Obama supporter, to which I
replied, ‘No, I don’t support him. Your guy is a socialist who voted four
times in the state Senate to let little babies die in hospital closets; I
think you should find something better to do with your time.’ (And then) I
hung up.”
The next day, two Secret Service agents showed up at Hughes’ home to
question Jessica about the “death threat” she made against Senator Obama.
Needless to say, Hughes is justifiably outraged. She told her local paper
that the Obama volunteer “has made a charge that will follow me the rest of
my life. I find that repugnant and violating.”
That is how the Left operates. Step out of line and you’re a racist or a
homophobe, theocrat or a fascist. Senator John McCain is a war hero who
spent more time in a North Vietnamese POW camp than Barack Obama has spent
in the United States Senate. But that hasn’t stopped liberal politicians
from comparing Senator McCain to George Wallace.
And it’s the Left that is always the first to rush to the streets with its
rent-a-mobs. It is the Left that shouts down open debate on college
campuses. It is the Left that wants to squelch free speech with the
“Fairness Doctrine,” shut down political discourse with so-called “Truth
Squads” and restrict religious liberty with “hate crimes” legislation.
For those of you unfamiliar with Michael Barone, he’s not a man prone to
hyperbole. He’s a political wonk who can recite the minutiae of voting
statistics better than most historians and political science professors. But
he recently wrote a chilling opinion piece titled “The
Coming Obama Thugocracy.”
Anyone who thinks they can take a pass on this election because the
conservative movement will bounce back bigger and stronger from a defeat,
like we did in 1994, had better think again. Obama, Ayers, ACORN, the
pro-abortion lobby and the militant homosexual movement are not trying to
win an election. They are determined to take over the country. They intend
to crush the conservative movement and end the culture war over the values
we will pass on to our children and grandchildren forever.
I’m not about to give up, and I pray you will fight with me!
Good News!
Our item in yesterday’s report on polling proved prophetic. By the time I
got home last night, there was breaking news of a “shock poll,” as the
Drudge Report described it, showing the presidential race essentially tied
at 49%-to-47%, within the margin of error. The poll was conducted by the
Gallup Organization – not exactly a “fly-by-night” operation.
Let me repeat: We can win this, but it will be up to you! I don’t want to
read anymore angry e-mails about John McCain’s faults. You will never find
perfection on the ballot, so stop looking for it. Either John McCain or
Barack Obama will be our next president. This is a time for choosing. Will
we take a radical lurch to the left with the most inexperienced and most
liberal candidate in history, who has always put his extreme ideology first?
Or will we put country first by electing the experienced pro-family,
pro-life, pro-reform McCain/Palin ticket?
Don’t get discouraged. Get active!
Go volunteer for your local Republican Party. Get a McCain/Palin sign or
bumper sticker. Volunteer for conservative candidates. Make phone calls.
Donate to conservative organizations like this one. Talk to friends and
family members. Share this report with them. Pray, and then VOTE! This is
your country – Fight For It!
