Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) Update

I have been in contact with GA Senator's Chambliss and Isakson regarding the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) and their responses are as follows:

Senator Saxby Chambliss’ statement:

This is an extremely complex issue with many facets. As you may know, President Bush recently requested that the Senate ratify the Treaty. Subsequent hearings were conducted by the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, and on October 31, 2007, the Treaty was voted out of the Committee by a vote of 17-4. Please note that I am not a member of this Committee, thus did not have an opportunity to vote at this level.

Based on language contained within the Treaty, I continue to have serious concerns; therefore, I am opposed to ratification of the Treaty.

Senator Johnny Isakson’s statement:

The Law of the Sea Treaty passed out of the Foreign Relations Committee this week by a vote of 17-4. As a member of the Committee, I opposed moving the treaty out of Committee because I have reservations regarding provisions affecting our national security. I have had the opportunity to consult with many experts on this treaty, and I would like to learn more about its possible ramifications – especially those dealing with national security.80,000 per year, thereby creating a new middle-class entitlement program.

Thank you for Keeping The Faith.

Why I'm Rooting for the Religious Right
Secular liberals show open contempt for traditionalists

I am not a Christian, or even a religious believer, and my opinions on social issues are decidedly middle-of-the-road. So why do I find myself rooting for the "religious right"...?
