KEEPING THE FAITH ACTION ALERT
August 11, 2008
Please forward.
Dear Friends,
This has been a busy summer for me dealing with family matters. Some
sad - some happy - and some very tiring!
My Aunt Judy was moved into a nursing home in Chattanooga, and I had to
close down her retirement home. She is doing okay, but keeps asking
me, "Why doesn't God hurry?" She knows the Lord and is ready to go
home - but as I tell her - "God is still getting your mansion ready.
He knows how particular you are!" She will be 87 years old in November
and has had a long, full life. Still, it will be hard to let her go.
She has been such an integral part of my life for so long.
My great nephew, Joshua, got married a couple of weeks ago to a lovely young
Christian woman named Stephanie. Josh brought her to our family
Thanksgiving dinner a couple of years ago and we met her for the first time.
Told Josh, "She is a keeper!" She joined in the family time
(grandchildren and all!) like she had always known us. Lots of family
in town for the wedding and lots of fun!
In addition, I moved! Talk about trauma and "drama!" One of my
sons said to the other son, "You do not want to be around Mom when she is
moving!" Read once somewhere that one of the most stressful things in
life is moving. I could not agree more. Almost settled - almost.
Now, it's back to work here. We are getting our 2008 Candidate
Questionnaires out this week to candidates in contested races, and our 2008
Federal Questionnaire will be going out also. In addition, there is a
Court of Appeals race this year, so we will be sending to all qualified
candidates a questionnaire tailored for judicial races. And, of
course, we will have a contrast on where presidential candidates Senators
John McCain and Barack Obama stand on issues important to conservative
Christians.
The strength of the Georgia Christian Alliance is in the army of volunteers
- YOU AND MANY MORE LIKE YOU - who help register new voters, and distribute
our educational voter guide. Our updated "Citizenship Sunday" voter
registration form is on our web site
www.gachristianalliance.org. We encourage all of you to get your churches involved in sponsoring
a voter registration drive. It is simple - it is perfectly legal - and
it is the right thing to do!
And, we need your help to distribute our voter guide in your church.
Please email me at
sadie@www.gachristianalliance.org with the number of voter guides you
require and a complete mailing (street) address for shipping - along with a
telephone number. Please be sure to state the name of your church in
your email in order for us to avoid duplications. It would be helpful,
for our shared cause, for you to call other churches in your area and ask
them if they would like to have our voter educational material. Just
forward me the information, and we will be happy to send them the number
they require. As we will go to print the first week of October, I need
the information well prior to that so we can print the appropriate number.
The voter guides will be ready for shipping the second week of October so
you can have them in your church two Sundays prior to the election which is
on Tuesday, November 4th.
This is one of the most important elections in my lifetime. Please
help us get our information out to our community. Encourage all your
friends and family to register to vote (30 days prior to November 4th) - and
then to go to the polls and cast their vote for the candidate that best
reflects our worldview.
Let me hear from you - and once again, many thanks for your help and
support.
Thank you for Keeping The Faith,
Sadie Fields
